O ye who believe! seek help with patient perseverance and prayer; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere. (Surah Al-Baqaraa,Ayah 153)
Praise be to Allah (s.w.t).
Allah (s.w.t) who has made patience like a horse that never gets tired, an army that can never be defeated and a strong fortress that can never be breached. Patience and victory are twin brothers, for victory comes with patience, relief comes with distress and ease comes with hardship. Patience is of more help to the one who has it than men, as it helps without any need for equipment or numbers and its relationship to victory is like that of the head to the body. Everybody, every Muslim should adapt patience within the hearts and minds for adapting patience makes us better Muslims. In the Qur’aan, Allah (s.w.t) has guaranteed those who are patient that He will give them reward without measure. Patience is an aspiration because it is not just something that we do, but rather something that we need to build in ourselves and adapt to different situations. Its importance is highlighted in the fact that it has been mentioned in the Quran over ninety times.
Patience is linked with hope and trust in God. When something bad happens, we can force ourselves to be patient by reminding ourselves that with hardship comes ease and that after a period of hardship God gives relief. We can only be truly patient when we realize that everything is from God, and that is how everything is illuminated. It is the opposite of darkness and impatience. Impatience is darkness because it frustrates us, we can behave rashly and we do not see the wisdom in the delay.
Hadith of the day:
“And whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience.” (Al-Bukhari)
