JUST IN: Ramadan moon has not been sighted in the UAE and Saudi Arabia so the holy month will begin on Sunday. http://www.emirates247.com/breaking-news-ramadan-to-begin-in-uae-saudi-arabia-from-sunday-2014-06-27-1.554555
Ramadan will begin on Sunday 29 June in the UK, according to the Saudi Arabian declaration, and will continue for 30 days.
The holy month starts at sunset, or when the new crescent moon is spotted. There is some consideration as to when Ramadan begins, as dates are based on astronomical calculation, meaning that the fasting starts at different times in different countries.
Some Muslims insist on the local physical sighting of the moon to mark the beginning of Ramadan, but others use the calculated time of the new moon or the Saudi Arabian declaration.

Laziness and how to overcome it...
Laziness is a sister of failure. Keep yourself busy all the time. Take care of your house, do your duties your work or pray, read Qur’an, read useful books or sit with family and friends and talk to them about things that will bring them closer to Allah. Idleness leads to worries, anxiety, devilish whispers and doubts that nothing can relieve except hard work.
Never look at the past because it makes your future not worth anything, try to move on as you go on. Try to keep your emotions in control whenever you see something that makes your future feel meaningless. Give minimum quality to problems and forget them as you move on with your life. This will make you happier and stronger and make your dreams come true faster inshaa' Allah.
Give thanks to Allah for His blessings and do not waste your time with that which is not pleasing to Him. Seek out that which is beneficial and useful, such as Islamic magazines, beneficial books and articles that will benefit you both in this world and the Hereafter. Call others to the path of Allah with kind words, good exhortation, wisdom, by means of your good behaviour and by setting a good example. Always make the following du'a and ask Allah to protect you from laziness:
“Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min al-hammi wal-hazan wa a’udhu bika min al-‘ajzi wal-kasal wa a’udhu bika min al-bukhli wal-jubn wa a’udhu bika min ghalbat ad-dayn wa qahr ar-rijal"
(O Allah, I seek refuge with You from distress and grief, and I seek refuge with You from incapacity and laziness and grief, and I seek refuge with You from miserliness and cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and from being over powered by men).
I ask Allaah to guide us to that which He loves and which pleases Him.
Any person can very quickly become a friend of Allah and thereby remember Allah with some contentment of heart. However, the moment a person begins to remember Allah, shaytan immediately reaches that individual and whispers ideas of dissuasion into that person. Shaytan dissuades the person with threats of problems, worries, and fear of what the future may or may not hold. He troubles people with thoughts of their past, present and future sins as if he is saying, “You have committed such major sins, with what face will you present yourself in front of Allah? How can you even hope to become a friend of Allah?”
The purpose of shaytan is to make one lose hope. Shaytan attacks those who want to befriend Allah using various tactics. Firstly, he causes people to focus on their past sins. He whispers, “Your past is very dark and bleak. How can you even begin to imagine finding the road to Allah when your path is covered with disobedience and the dark clouds of sin hover over your head? Therefore, the first step in battling shaytan is to rid one’s self of despair and hope for the mercy of Allah.
After the Shahaadah, (declaration of faith), the most important duty upon the Muslim is performing the Salaah (obligatory Prayers). Indeed, Salaah is the thing that distinguishes between the Muslim and the kaafir (disbeliever) [according to the majority of scholars].
The Prophet, salla Allaahu 'alayhe wasallam, said; 'Between a man and disbelief is (only) the abandonment of salaah.' [Muslim] He, salla Allaahu 'alayhe wasallam, also said; 'The first thing for which the servant (of Allaah) shall be called to account for (on the Day of Reckoning), is the Salaah. If it was good, then the rest of his deeds are good and if it was bad, then the rest of his deeds are bad.' [At-Tabaraanee]
Allaah, subhaanahu wata'aala, and then His Prophet, Muhamaad, salla Allaahu 'alayhe wasallam, emphasised the importance of Salaah (Prayer). He, subhaanahu wata'aala, said: "Then there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up prayers and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell." [Maryam:59]
Also: "Every person is a pledge for what he has earned. Except those on the Right; (i.e. the pious true believers). In Gardens, they will ask one another concerning the guilty, 'What has caused you to enter Hell?'
They will say, 'We were not of those who used to pray ..." [Al-Muddathir: 38-43]
So to all those who abandon the prescribed Prayers, we ask: what will be your position on that terrible day when Allaah will resurrect you? On the Day of Judgement the Prophet, salla Allaahu alayhe wasallam, will indeed turn you away from his Hawd, (the Pond), where the true believers will be gathered with him, all because you have abandoned the salaah! Is this the condition you wish to be in?
He, salla Allaahu alayhe wasallam, will certainly know his true followers, who will be recognised from the brightness of their skins, this being the traces of their Wudoo’ (ablutions). So a person who abandons salaah will also be recognised since there will be no signs of the Wudoo’ on him!
Know that Allaah, subhaanahu wata aala, has cursed Shaytaan and on the Day of Judgement he will be thrown into Hell because he was too proud to prostrate to Aadam, alayhis-salaam, when ordered to. Such is the condition of the one who failed to prostrate to Allaah, subhaanahu wata aala and disobeyed His orders, so how will it be for the person who failed to prostrate in Salaah?
We should seriously ponder over the following example, which shows how worried the Khaleefah Umar ibn al-Khattaab, radiya Allaahu anhu, was about the affairs of the people under his rule, especially their salaah. When he was stabbed, he fell down unconscious and when he, radiya Allaahu anhu, regained consciousness, the very first thing he uttered was, 'Did the people pray?' They said 'Yes' to which he replied, 'No Islaam for him, he who abandons salaah.'
A toddler completely buried by rubble following air strikes in Syria has miraculously been pulled out alive by men who used their bare hands to reach him.
Incredible footage surfaced on YouTube on Friday of a group of men in rebel-held Aleppo frantically digging through pulverised rock and dust to reach the young boy.
It's not until near the two-minute mark of the eight-minute-long footage, uploaded by Syrian rebels, that the boy is first glimpsed.

Why Islam says NO to stunned meat....
Muslims are taught through the Qu'ran that all animals should be treated with respect and well cared for. The goal is to slaughter the animal, limiting the amount of pain the animal will endure.
When an animal is slaughtered, the jugular vein is cut and the blood is allowed to drain from the animal. Remember, Muslims are prohibited from consuming animal blood.
Stunning the animal before it is actually slaughtered is a common practice in many western countries. It is claimed to be more comforting and causing less pain to the animal.
Pre-slaughter stunning was originally introduced to protect abattoir personnel, rather than the animals themselves. The idea was to immobilize the animal to facilitate killing procedures. However, the principle of stunning has now evolved to encompass the idea that animals should be rendered unconscious before they are slaughtered.
The Inhumane Methods Some Companies use to Slaughter Animals:
The Captive Bolt Pistol
This stunning method is widely used for all farmed animals. There are two types of captive bolt pistol: penetrative and non-penetrative. Penetrative stunners drive a bolt into the skull and cause unconsciousness both through physical brain damage and the concussive blow to the skull. The bolt on a non-penetrative stunner is 'mushroom-headed' and impacts on the brain without entering the skull. Unconsciousness is caused by the concussive blow. After the animal is unconscious, it is slaughtered.
The bolt is described as 'captive' because it flies out of the barrel but remains attached to the pistol. The pistol is placed on the centre of the animal’s forehead and is either trigger-fired or fires automatically on contact with the animal’s head.
Pitching is carried out in the majority of cattle slaughterhouses. The practice involves inserting a wire or rod through the hole in the head made by the captive bolt. The rod is slid up and down to destroy the lower part of the brain and the spinal cord.
Electric head-only stunning (electric shock or current)
Electric head-only stunning with tongs is used to stun cattle, calves, sheep, goats, rabbits and ostriches. The operator places a pair of electric tongs on either side of the animal’s head and passes an electric current through the brain - supposedly causing a temporary loss of consciousness.
The electric waterbath is widely used to stun chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese. Birds are shackled upside down on a moving conveyor which carries them to an electrified waterbath into which their heads are supposed to be immersed. The shackles contact a bar which is connected to earth. The strength of the electrical current has risen in recent years - with the aim of ensuring that birds suffer a cardiac arrest and die when they enter the waterbath.
An animal is stunned by exposing them to a mixture of carbon dioxide and air. This gas causes the animal to loose its consciousness, after which it is slaughtered.
The above methods of slaughtering meat is HARAAM some have been banned in countries while some methods are still in place today used by UK companies. The correct method of slaughtering is as follows :
